Appendix II

Major Education – Research Projects

·       Co-ordination of several ERASMUS projects.

·       Participation in the COMETT Programme "Development of a simulator for the containment of the implications of oil-pollution of sea". This project was co-ordinated by the Department of Environment of the University of the Aegean, and the Unit had the responsibility for the educational module (1987-1989).   

·       Participation in the team for the project: "The use of explanations in the specification of expert systems for teaching". Participants to the team are researchers from the following institutions: Imperial College/University of London, Institute of Education / University of London, King’s College/University of London, Paris 7, Institute of Informatics/Danish school of Educational Studies (1991-1995). This project was partly financed by ESPRIT (r.n.3267/ESPRIT).

·       Participation in the team for the development of teaching methods with the use of hypertext.  This project is financed by the General Secretariat for Research and Technology (89 EK 44-1). A prototype of this software has been already developed and is at the moment in the process of its evaluation (1989-1993).

·       Participation in the team of the Organization for the Vocational Training for development of teaching material with the use of hypertext. This program was financed by the European Commission (94-03/1538/GR-III Ext.2) (1993-1994).

·       Leadership of the research project: "Reading of the Science textbooks by the teacher". This project was funded from the Committee of Research of the University of Patras (code number 940/1994) (1994-1995).

·       Leadership of the project ALFEA, which aimed to the development of teaching material for the nature of matter and for the greenhouse effect. This program was funded by the General Secretariat of Research and Technology (PENED: 15815/29-12-1995) (1995-1998).

·       Leadership of the project, which aimed to the development of teaching material for the teaching of energy. This program was funded by the General Secretariat of Research and Technology (YPER: 115250/29-12-1995) (1995-1998).

·       Leadership of the program "Training in New Technologies and Science (TINTS)" which was funded by the European program "NOW" through the Ministry of Labor (A.P.O. 183876) (1995-1998).

·       Participation in the team of University of Patras (Departments of Computer Engineering and Education) for the development of software for technical education (project HORIZON) (1995-1997).

·       Leadership of Joint Greek (Ministry of Foreign Affairs) - Jordanian (Ministry of education) project ‘Linking Education and Work’.

·       Leadership of Joint Greek (Ministry of Foreign Affairs) - Cypriot (Ministry of Education) project for reforming/restructuring the technical education in Cyprus.

·       Expert of Eugenidis Foundation in e-KNOWNET project which has an aim the development of a network in order to facilitate the dissemination of new scientific knowledge coming from the research lab to wider sections of the public.
